Father’s Day: A Day to Celebrate Good-Ole Dad
Fathers play an important role in the life of every child. From teaching them how to ride a bike, to sharing life lessons, dads around the world foster the growth and development of their children and loved ones. So this Father’s Day we’re sharing a few annual traditions, perks of being a father and life lessons that the fathers, sons and daughters have learned at Manhattan Toy!

My Dad and I typically try and go out golfing every year for father’s day during the morning and then as a family, we either go out to eat or have a BBQ if the weather permits.

As a Dad of a 7 and 8 year old, we haven’t really started any traditions…but down the road a family golf game each Father’s day would be great. We will see if the thoughtful concentration of my daughter’s game or the hard-swing hacking of my son’s game will prevail!

My dad and I always celebrate Father’s Day at the family cabin on Sugar Lake in Annandale, MN. We typically spend the entire weekend there. Day of, we get up early for a jog, come home to pancakes, eggs and bacon – freshly made by mom and gram. Then, we spend the day boating, tubing, relaxing outside and eating. Our usual big meal is grilled steaks, potatoes and sweet corn, finished off with gram’s chocolate cake.

When it comes to work, listen to any feedback, cherish the opinions of those you respect, and most importantly don’t stop until your work is something that you are proud to put your name to. A man’s good name takes a lifetime to build but only a moment to destroy. In addition, he taught me that if you look too much to the future you’ll miss out on today.
Last but not least: always let your coals burn for 30 minutes before you grill. J

One big reason I love my dad is because he is such a strong person, yet emotional at the same time. He also has great self-values. One lesson he has instilled in me, since the day I was born, was to say ‘thank you’ to people who go out of their way to help you or say something kind. And to always tell people when they have done a good job. Practicing these acts of kindness and displaying gratitude will take you far.

The best part of being a Dad for me is getting to see things anew from your kids' perspective. My wife and I are blessed with both a girl and boy and seeing the differences (and similarities) in how they react to different experiences is great. Being a Dad just keeps getting better each year!
